Roof Replacement Cost

There aren't a whole lot of people that get excited about putting a new roof on their home. Depending on the current condition of the existing roof it may seem like it's going to cost a fortune or you may come to find out that the roofing cost won't be as bad as you think.

It's still wise to be sure you are financially prepared to take on such a big project and it's definitely something you should be budgeting for especially if you're short on cash. 

If your current roof is old, sagging, leaking or otherwise unsafe it's likely that you're going to have to remove materials before you can add anything else to it. You'll want to observe the roof structure itself because if any of that needs to be replaced you're going to pay a higher roofing cost.

You'll also need to factor in the costs of the supplies and materials you'll need to purchase. These include nails, roofing felt and shingles. These costs will be added to any costs that consist of removing other materials from the roof. The costs of supplies tend to vary on your geographical location.

If you have to dispose of old shingles or roofing you will need to rent a dumpster to make sure it's disposed of properly. Shingles are petroleum products and can't simply be thrown away.

Paying for the roofing cost with a credit card or loan isn't the wisest idea unless you can pay them off very quickly. You don't want to go into debt if you don't need to just because you're getting a new roof. The interest will make such a large purchase even more expensive so it's best to just save a little money each time you get paid and have it allocated to your roofing fund.

If your roofing structure is okay, it's likely that you may just simply need to add an additional layer of shingles. Sometimes this proves to add a bit too much weight which can cause sagging and potentially be unsafe.

If your roof is in pretty bad shape and you are comfortable with financing or putting the roofing purchase on a credit card then by all means go for it.
